Leadership begins with you. And everything you create begins with conquering your fears.

Being willing to talk on camera and be seen is key. But not the brazen way most do it. Brute force is not the same as quiet confidence. They have very different effects on an audience.

Bottom line, master your fears and you become a leader, even if it isn't an "official" one. 

Others will be attracted by your lack of neediness, because in marketing that is the one trait everyone craves.

They tend to be those for whom the online image is important, which has brought people like surgeons, investment bankers, attorneys and C-level executives, with a good proportion of solo entrepreneurs in fields as varied as natural medicine, publishing, financial education, engineering, and even video production.

Many are coming off a storied career and looking for a significant second act.

Many want to learn an alternative to marketing tactics they don't like, or have grown past the need to do themselves. 

They would probably not stay for years at a time unless they found the work personally valuable and financially rewarding.

Still, not everyone can get in. And here's why...

Even with our marvelous structure, I can support a very limited number of people. This is just not something that scales easily. It’s more important for me to be there in the moment with our members than anything else. 

We need to get to know each other. I need to understand what’s important to you, and you need the time to get that across in a nuanced way. Because of this I can only make space for so many people at at time.

Also, each member comes to know, like and understand their fellow members. This multiplies the effectiveness of the group, as Inner Circle seems to attract some pretty fine human beings.

If the group thing doesn't resonate with you, I get it. I'm not much of a joiner myself. But we all have a natural home; a place where we feel supported and growth comes easier. That doesn't end just because our hair starts turning a lighter color.

Much of the time in this work, the kinds of questions that need to be answered or problems that need to be solved are best done live or in the Greenroom. 

Occasionally someone needs a deeper dive into certain areas that need to be bolstered or refreshed. For that we have a master course designed to bring balance to a person's video marketing skills.

Being on camera is about more than standing and smiling like a sequined letter-turner.

I believe that when you do things out of who you really are, the results speak for themselves. 

When I started Inner Circle in 2012, I had no idea what would happen. I just knew that many of the things I was being taught about marketing weren't working for me. I might be competitive on the softball field, but I had very little interest in bending arms and chasing people all over creation. 

I suspected a few other people might also feel that way.

What never occurred to me is that we would still be here long after those who had started video coaching sites at the same time were a footnote in internet history. It also never occurred to me that many of our earliest members would still be with us today. 

In an industry that brags about "retention" in terms of weeks, that says something about how we do what we do. I have never given a thought to retention. That's not what this is about. 

I guess it's just a different way of looking at the world. I can talk about pieces of it in my videos, but when we have the time in Inner Circle, working with someone on a problem, things get much clearer about what makes for a happier, more prosperous life and business, and the role video can play in that for the right person.

So whatever you decide, that's my wish for you; a happier more prosperous life and business. There's so much left to learn, isn't there?
